Nova Porto Ferry Faro to Vilamoura - 20th October 2026
Lovely little ferry ride - I do like a small ferry - to Praia de Faro to start. Then miles and miles of soft sand. I even added on an extra mile to the route just to get off it for a break.
Had freshly caught fish for lunch, pick it from the cabinet type, not alive, just what they had bought in that morning. Stone bass, never had before, sort of like turbot. But. Playing over the PA on this little wooden hut on stilts on the beach, Pavarotti. Big Pav in all his glory. Stayed too long. Glorious.
Cooler today with a bastard of a head wind.
I've forgotten just how much harder it is to walk in the soft sand all day. I didn't have my normal third day lassitude this trip, but certainly hit the wall today. Just have to suck it up. Cliff tops with soft sand paths down to beaches with soft sand for most of the next four days.
It is easy to tell when I've had a hard day - many fewer photos.
