Walking
I started my first real walk in many a year, slightly apprehensive of the damage I could do to an ageing frame, but keen to give it a try. In the end, wanting something close by and preferably an island that I could navigate around, I settled on the Isle of Man and the Raad ny Foillan. The distance appealed to me, it seemed doable in a couple of weeks and it was a costal walk - my favourite.
I was entreated to take pictures on this trip so that I could tell and show, and I am most grateful for the advice. This proved to be the start of something and I ended up creating this blog for my daughters, so that they could view the photos they requested I take as I tramped around. I now wish with some melancholy that I’d taken a camera on previous walks – memory fades so quickly.
If you happen to stumble across this, please note that I am not offering a guide, for I do not believe that you need one. You are, after all, grown adults with minds of your own and the right to make your own choices, plan your own routes and select your own accommodation.
