Isle of Wight–6

Yarmouth to Shalfleet – 8th September 2026

Wet does not cover it. Wet, wet, wet, wet. And no way to dry off as there is a complete lack of heating at the moment in the hotel.
I am very glad that today was my short day, serendipitous indeed that it coincided with the rain.

The thing about the constant rain is that after a while you end up hunkered down simply enduring. There is little more than just taking the next step desperate for the end to come.
Part of this stage was along a road with very narrow verges. Rain makes puddles, puddles make fuckers (an ambulance) drive through them to splash the poor dumb moob trekking along. What a dick! I was completely sodden with the water running down into my boots, which will still be wet for the long last stage tomorrow. Faaawck maite! As they would say here.
