Portugal
13th – 24th March
Well the flights didn’t fuck me up this time and the coach journey to Porto Covo was pleasant if a bit long. 18 degrees and sunshine in March with an onshore breeze. What more could you ask for.
This is the trip that I postponed from last November and maybe that’s a good thing. The long term weather shows a bad day on the 17th but dry to fine the rest of the two weeks.
This will be tough. Twelve days and one hundred and fifty miles, but I am determined to make it – provided the old bod hangs together. There are a couple of hard fifteen milers in this but my fitness has improved since the Isle of Man and, now that I’ve removed those god-awful inserts that the podiatrist gave me that were fucking my knees, I can move without the grace of painkillers (let’s see how that goes after twelve miles and six hours and the difficult three miles still to go).
